The chart-topping producer & songwriter spoke with Billboard Information about making the album in Miami with Latin music stars and thrilling up-and-comers.
Though Marshmello has confirmed his cross-genre attraction by topping the Sizzling Dance/Digital Songs, Sizzling Rock & Different Songs and Pop Airplay charts over the course of his profession, the producer scored a long-awaited first in 2023: a No. 1 single on the Latin Airplay chart for his sudden hit with Manuel Turizo, “El Merengue.” The tropical single was the primary new endeavor in a 12 months stuffed with them for the veteran producer, who on Nov. 3 will launch Sugar Papi, his first Latin album and first full-length that options an artist on each track.

And whereas most songs are rooted in Latin rap, entice and reggaeton, nothing was off-limits within the studio, with Marshmello organising periods in Miami to fulfill with every artist. “I confirmed up in Miami to put in writing this album and was like, ‘I don’t have something ready,’” he remembers with amusing. “A part of my job, my primary job, is on the spot creation.” That quick-thinking helped him and his collaborators end all the album in lower than two weeks.
“I wasn’t simply going to go and make this enormous ‘each large artist on the planet’ [project], I used to be simply going to work with the artists that I vibed with,” he says, noting he was notably keen on his periods with Younger Miko. “She simply confirmed up and was so good and humble, killing every thing I’m exhibiting her. Within the vault, there’s two different songs that we did and it’s straight rave music, outdated ’90s like Eiffel 65…Loopy loopy vibes. There’s a variety of songs within the vault that would pop up. “
That wasn’t all that Marshmello needed to say about what’s forward, teasing extra on the way in which. “I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it publicly however I’ve been within the studio this complete summer time writing a brand new album, sort of redefining what Marshmello is,” he says. “I simply had some periods not too long ago the place I had some Latin touches…I may undoubtedly see a variety of components that I’m studying [returning].”
